Today’s #faithbites come from my best friend who posted this image. I often wonder how my behavior is seen by others. I’ve spent a long time trying to temper my actions to conform to what the world expects. Our world expects certain things from us based on our gender, our nationality, race, occupation, political party and more. But the question is what does God expect?

i use the term freak as a term of endearment. We are unique creatures and should express who we are.

Today’s Questions: How does God want us to relate to the world? What can you do to let your freak flag Fly and show God’s creativity in you?

Scripture

• Jeremiah 1:4-5: The Lord gave me this message: “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”
• Ephesians 2:10 – For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
• Romans 12:6-8 – We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
• Romans 12:2 – 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Reflection

If God knew us before we were born, if he knows the numbers of hairs in our head, if he gave us different gifts, didn’t he make us the way we should be? If the answer to this is yes, then why are we hiding in the ways of the world? God specifically tells us not to conform to the world. He tells us to be strong and courageous (Joshua 1:9). As we close, remember you are a loved, unique creature designed by God. Listen to him, use the gifts he gave you, and live your life according to his Word, not the will of the world.

Prayer

Lord God, you have reminded us through your word that we are unique, special, and created by you. We pray for the strength to be who you created. Push away any doubts or identity crisess that the world puts on us. You are the way, the truth, and the life. We pray all of this in your name, Amen.
