November 28 – What Holds You Together? Laminin
331 – What Holds You Together? Laminin

#faithbites #faithjourney Laminin

This past week has been pretty rough. Bet we even holidays, sickness, and stress, my anxiety has been off the charts. So many things to do, not enough time to do it in, and no matter the coping techniques I tried, I felt that I was falling apart. I know that God keeps me together but sometimes, the stress of daily life is just too much. But God has a way.

At work today, one of my colleagues said she had to share something with me. It was something she was meaning to share for a long time but kept putting it off. But today she had to share it. It’s a God moment for sure. What she shared was a YouTube video entitled: God Is in Everything, Even Molecule That Holds Us Together. In this video a pastor talks about God holding us in his haands and he is with us at the molecular level.

Scripture
  • I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
        your works are wonderful,
        I know that full well.- Psalm 139:14
  • For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities;all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. – Colossians 1:16-17
Reflection

Now if you looked at the picture first before watching the video or reading on, you see how awesome Laminn is. For those of you who don’t know, laminin is a protein that is a cell adhesion molecule. It is what holds together all the membranes of our bodies together. Without it, our cells would collapse. If you look at the shape of laminin, it’s the shape of the cross. How amazing is that. There is a molecule that is shaped like the cross that literally holds our bodies together.

There are so many times when I question my faith. When I wonder if I am doing what I’m supposed to and fufilling God’s plan. There are other times when I feel so disconnected from everyone and everything, that I think it will all end. But to know, that the representation of Jesus is in my cells, literally holding everything together, it’s a level of connectedness I have not experienced before.

Call it the Holy Spirit. Call it divine planning. Whatever you call, it, Jesus is there to help keep you together.

Charge

Are you having questions about faith? Are you wondering how you are connected to the bigger picture? Maybe you don’t believe in a creator. I challenge you to look at the scripture above and the shape and purpose of laminin and not feel something. Share that feeling of connectedness with those around you. Through that sharing, you will feel Jesus helping to keep you together.

Lord, allow me to feel your presence always. Help me to know that you are in me, through me, and around me always. Let me live my life like laminin and help be the adhesive that brings people to your church.
