2/25 – False Guilt
2:56 – False Guilt

#faithbites #faithjourney false

Intro

We’ve all felt guilt at one time or another. Maybe it was because he hurt someone, stole something, or made a bad decision that caused hurt indirectly. This is natural and through Christ we are forgiven from this when we ask for it and truly repent.

Then there is false guilt. It’s when we feel guilty for something we shouldn’t. Our brains know that we shouldn’t feel guilty but our hearts tell us to feel guilty. This false guilt is difficult because there isn’t a logical explanation for it. This is a case when we need to throw it to God and let him heal is. If we ask for forgiveness, he will give it to us. Even with Jesus’s forgiveness sometimes it’s hard for us to let it go. We need to trust that his grace is sufficient and that our feeling of guilt means we care about those around us and shows we love them.

Questions
  • What do you do when false guilt overtakes you?
  • How can you find peace in the 18 inches between your head and your heart?
Scripture
  • 2 Corinthians 5:21 – For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
  • Hebrews 4:14-16 – 14 Since then we have da great high priest ewho has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, flet us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest gwho is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been dtempted as we are, hyet without sin. 16 iLet us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Reflection

False guilt can wreck us. It doesn’t make sense and we don’t see a quick solution to it. Sometimes we don’t even pray about it because we don’t think we did anything wrong that we need forgiveness for. The truth is, God helps us, no matter what our pain. He understands what we went through and why we feel the way we do. He doesn’t blame us and provides comfort when we need it. We just have to ask for it.

We are not God. When we have false guilt, we are blaming ourselves for things we shouldn’t. We are taking ON God’s role when we shouldn’t. We don’t do it purposefully as we want to love and help. It’s also very hard to get rid of.

As we remember, our father loves us. He sent Jesus to forgive us our sins and he comforts us at all times. False guilt is one of those times we need to turn it to him.

Prayer

Father God, we love you and thank you for your love and compassion. Help us when we feel lost, guilty, and worried. Lord, we don’t know how to deal with this false guilt. We know that you forgive us our sins and comfort us in our time sof weakness. Lord, we pray that you release this pressure and false guilt. Let us see the light so we can continue on your path. In your name, Amen.
