4:273 – It’s Been A Long Road
#faithbites #faithjourney
Setting
I love Star Trek. Recently, I began rewatching Star Trek: Enterprise. This series takes place before the original series with Kirk, Spock, and McCoy. The one thing I hated about it, was it had a pop song, “Faith of the Heart” as the opening theme for the show. Now as I watch it back, I don’t like it as a series song, but I still love the song. The opening verse, speaks to me and our lives.
“It’s been a long road,
To get from there to here.
It’s been a long time,
But my time is finally here”
The chorus, while it says faith of the heart, is God.
“Cause I’ve got faith of the heart.
I’m going where my heart will take me.
I’ve got faith to believe.
I can do anything.
I’ve got strength of the soul.
And no one’s going to bend or break me.
I can reach any star.
I’ve got faith,
I’ve got faith,
Faith of the heart.”
Today’s Questions: How do you keep us your strength when going down the long road? How do you know that you are following God’s path for you?
Scripture
- Job 23:11 – My feet have closely followed his steps; I have kept to his way without turning aside.
- Mark 1:3 – a voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.’ ”
- Proverbs 3:6 – in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Reflection
Our road is long, winding, and twisting. Sometimes we end up in the waiting place, sometimes we are up, and sometimes we are down. If we follow in his footsteps (Job 23:11), listen to his voice (Mark 1:3), and submit to God (Proverbs 3:6), we will finish the race strong (2 Timothy 4:7). God won’t let us down or disappoint us. Our salvation has been won by Christ, we just get to live as he wants us to.
Lately, I’ve been feeling more and more as I’m finally getting there. I’ve reached the stars and becoming who I am supposed to be. Yes, it’s been a long road, and the race isn’t over yet. It will take time, but I know I’m following in his footsteps.
As we close, don’t lose hope because the road is branching, twisting, or going on forever. Know you are following him, and he will make your paths straight.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, we know that it is a long road and nothing is going to be easy. We thank you for guiding us and keeping us on the right path. Lord, we pray that we always hear your voice, listen to you, and follow in your footsteps. Thank you for forgiving our missteps and always being there to keep us going. We pray this in your name, Amen.
