Oct 14 – Jump In, Even If You Can’t See The Bottom
2:287 – Jump In, Even If You Can’t See The Bottom

#faithbites #faithjourney Jump

What is faith? I guess faith is what the title of this faithbite is all about. Pray and jump, without even knowing exactly where you are going. Today, I was hit with this lesson twice.

First, I went to a chiropractor to help me with my back. I have heard about chiropractors being “quacks” and not real doctors. But God led me to a family friend, so I took the jump. We shall see what the treatment plan looks like and how it may help. So far, his words and ideas ring true. I don’t know what the bottom looks like, but here we go.

Then, Cece and I were watching Supergirl. In it a character quit his job because of changes in the organization. He didn’t know where he was going or what he was doing, but he said that’s part of the adventure.

In both cases, there was faith in the future. I have no idea if I’m a good parent or how my kids will turn out, but I have faith. Am I a good worker, husband, friend? I don’t know, but I have faith that God will be there to course correct and catch me when I jump. This is the meaning of faith.

Scripture
  • Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” – Deuteronomy 31:6
  • Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. – Hebrews 11:1
  • so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power. – 1 Corinthians 2:5
Reflection

Jumping off into the unknown is scary. It is something we are told not to you. We are cautioned to look before we leap. But faith tells us to be strong and courageous. Faith says, God will never leave us until the end of the age. His Word even tells us that people may judge us or look at us strangely because of our faith. It’s not what they can understand but what God has commanded.

This is what faith is about. We need to pray and make wise decisions, but sometimes, all we have is faith. Faith in a new medical treatment, faith in searching for a new job, faith in raising money for a new church building. We don’t know where God will take us, but if we have faith, we are jumping into something we don’t see but he is already there.

Challenge

Are you wrestling with a decision? Are you looking for the perfect time to jump? Maybe the time is now. Faithfully pray about it. Listen to the Lord, then take the leap. He will catch you.

Prayer

Jesus, hear our prayers tonight. Many of us are looking at challenging situations. Situations where we don’t know how they will turn out or what the right choice is. Calm our hearts and our souls. Give our minds the confidence to jump the way you want us to jump. Let us know you are already there and you will lift us up and onto your path. We give you all the thanks and Glory as we know you are waiting for us. In your name, Amen.
