277 – Be Kind
#faithbites #faithjourney kind
The world is pretty ugly right now. Lots of nastiness out there. I was in a meeting and the way people discussed things was not showing love or kindness. It struck me as odd at first, but then, I realized why should I be surprised? This is the climate we are living in. Those who are kind and loving are said to take a side or be naive. If that’s the case, then I will be naive. I want to live in a world where kindness is the norm.
Scripture
- Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant – 1 Corinthians 13:4
- Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. – Ephesians 4:32
- Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. – Hebrews 13:2
Reflection
It’s funny that many people have lost the ability to show kindness. It is hard when we seek self-satisfaction or to win. But if we look at our faith, we have a God who loves us and wants us to love each other. Our scriptures are clear: be patient and kind, forgive one another, show hospitality, and be Christlike. We don’t have to agree, but we should still love.
I honestly don’t have much to add today. I try to approach everyone with kindness but sometimes I fail. There is nothing to be gained in life that can’t be gained through kindness and love.
Charge
Do you show kindness? When you disagree with people are you still kind? When something doesn’t go your way, do you show love and kindness? I know I don’t always but I try. Think about those little moments where you can show kindness to others. It will be rewarded.
Lord, help me to be kind in everything I do. Let me serve as you served when you were here. Loving the Father and People. I know this isn’t easy and I will fail at times, but give me strength.
