5:32 – God Will Do Anything For Love, But He Won’t Do That

Intro

We rrently lost Meat Loaf and I was listening to one of his most famous songs, I would do anything for love (But I won’t do that) sometimes revisiting songs (or scripture) gives you a new appreciation and new meaning. As an aside, the musicality on that song is amazing. Anyway, one of the great mysterious of that song is, what won’t Meat Loaf do. Hesyas he will do anything fo love but he won’t do that. There have been articles written about it and it’s really no mystery what he meant. He won’t: ever lie, forget how you feel, never forgive himself if they don’t go all the way, never do it better than with yo, never stop dreaming, and the lost goes on. He would do anything but forsake her or love another.

Did you know God will and has done everything for love but there is one thing he will never do!

Scripture

• Joel 3:26 – “You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, who has dealt wondrously with you. And my people shall never again be put to shame.
• John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life
• Ephesians 2:8- For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
• 1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
• Deuteronomy 31:8 – It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

Reflection

God has and continues to do anything for love. He created the universe, he gave us dominion over the earth, he gave us the 10 commandments and his Word. Then, God have us his only Son do that we would be forgiven and have eternal life. Jesus takes our confessions, forgives us, and makes us clean. If that isn’t doing anything for love, I don’t know what is.

But what won’t God do? He will never leave us or forsake us. He will be with us until the end of the age. Our God is beside us, around us, and loves us, no matter what we do.

As we close, remember that we have a God who has and continues to do anything for love. He is an awesome, loving, and forgiving God.

Prayer

Lord God, we humbly thank you for everything you have done. You have proven time and time again that there isn’t anything you wouldn’t do for us. Despite our son and mistakes, you love us. Thank you. We pray that we are worthy of your love, always seek forgiveness, and never forget that you will do anything for us to help and protect us. In your name, Amen.
