January 15 – How Do You Lead?

5:15 – How Do You Lead?

#faithbites #faithjourney lead

Intro

I have been in many leadership positions over the years. Some have been positional (manager, director), some volunteer (volunteer), and some informal (mentor and friend). I can admit that I have had varying levels of success. Sometimes, I have failed. The reason why? I saw the position as something to gain for power or money but not in the purpose. A leader cares most about their peoole and will do everything they can so the people they lead succeed.

Questions
  • What is your leadership style?
  • What does God say about leadership?
  • Can you admit when you haven’t been the best leader?
Scripture
  • Hebrews 13:17 – Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.
  • Philippians 2:3 – Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves;
Reflection

Leadership ks a privilege and a responsibility. Many of us think if leading the same as managing. That we have tasks to accomplish and the people help us get there. Leadership focuses more on the people. Tasks need to get done but not at the expense of people. God tells us that we should submit to our leader but, and thus is the important part, they ar ekeepong watch over us and do it with joy.

As a leader, the choices we make everyday can truly change the trajectory of someone’s life. We can help boost others or put them down. What do you choose? When I was first a leader, neigh a manager, I looked at the power that came with the position and that people had to do what I wanted. Now I focus on people and how to I build them up Fi st and the work follows.

As we close, remember that we have a responsibility to help, support, and guide those we lead. It’s about the people, not the power.

Prayer

Lord God, you chose leaders, we choose managers. Help us to obey our leaders and when we are in leadership positions, let us take it as a responsibility and provledge to help those we lead. We pray this in your name, Amen.
