December 28 – Wandering The Fields

363: Wandering The Fields

#faithbites #faithjourney wandering

Setting

In the Bible, God goes by many different titles : father, creator, savior, king of kings, Lord of Lord’s, and Shepard. While those are just a few of the many, the one that hits home today is Shepard.

A Shepard cares for their flock. They make sure they aren’t wandering into dangerous areas. The Shepard makes sure they have food, shelter, and protection. The job of the Shepard is to be a caregiver and ensure the best quality of life possible. God is our Shepard.

Today’s Questions: When you are wandering, do you look TO God to Shepard you on to the right path? If not, where or to whom are you looking for direction?

Scripture
  • Ezekiel 34:12 – As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness
  • Psalm 23:1-3 – The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,  he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake
Reflection

I ddon’t know why this struck a cord with me today. Maybe it’s because we are all so busy and making so many decisions that it is nice to know that God will be there and make sure our paths are straight. He will. Make sure we are red, have shelter, and lack nothing. He is the Good Shepard. The other piece, as seen in Ezekiel, is if and when we get into danger and darkness he will find us and rescue us. This is the type of God we have.

As we close, remember we have nothing to fear. We have a Good Shepard who helps us in our wandering, protects us, and makes sure we lack nothing. It’s not up to you, but a promise God made when he gave you your identity

Prayer

Father God, you are an amazing father and Shepard. You take us when we are wandering and give us good and shelter. Father, you sent your Son so that if we can be connected with you. You sent the Holy Spirit to build faith and make sure we were following your will. Lord, we pray that you help us never to forget that you are our Shepard and you will never leave us. In your name, we pray, Amen.
