Never give up

4:318 – Never Give Up!

Setting

Most of you know that I am not very mechanical. I have “a person” for plumbing, heating, painting, just about everything. I have tried over the years to get better but still know my limitations. 3D printing has really challenged everything I know about my skills, my patience, and my ability. Today I spent over 6 hours for something that should have taken 30 minutes. I had so many mess ups, missing screws, dropped screws, fumbles, but I didn’t give up. When I was about to take a breather, I kept going and found the missing pieces. Right now, I’m trying my first print after this upgrade. Granted there is another upgrade to do, but I’m going to take a breather. God tells us to be courageous. (Joshua 1:9) That means never giving up. (And yes, there are times to walk away, that is different than giving up. That’s a choice for a new direction).

Today’s Question: When you are tested and stressed what propels you to keep going? How can we use our faith to keep going when the going gets tough?

Scripture
  • 2 Chronicles 15:7 – But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.”
  • Ephesians 6:10 – Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power
Reflection

Heck, even as I was typing this, my printer wasn’t printing. I thought I had messed up again. The funny thing: I forgot to tell the printer to print. This is a prime example of why we should never give up. I also know that my work, my faith will be rewarded. God is very clear in his power and that he will always protect us and help us find a way. We just need to be open to it. Another example with this printer fiasco, I knew I couldn’t do it on my own. I reached out to a good Facebook group and had suggestions in minutes. I knew where my limitations are, where my stresses were but still finished the job. It may not have been how I planned it but it still worked out.

As we closed, remember to never give up. Be flexible to change and get help, but trust in the Lord and you can accomplish all things.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank you for helping me with my patience. We all get frustrated and just give up. It’s easy to throw in the towel. It’s harder to keep going. We ask for your strength to help us persist and conquer all obstacles in our way. Lord, we also pray that you tell us when it’s time to change direction. We know that isn’t quitting but listening to you as you will make our paths clear. We pray all of this in your name, Amen.
