4:306 – Please Listen To Me
#faithbites #faithjourney listen
Setting
Today I had a bad experience with the doctor. He was rushing, late, didn’t really listen to me, and was out the door. He had his mind made up before coming in, didn’t listen to me, or seem to acknowledge the seriousness of what’s going on. It was all about meds and insurance, not me and coping. I am quite upset. (And I donrealize there could have been a million other things impacting his performance today. I will give him Grace, just sharing what inexperiences.
I believe that most of us just really want to be heard, cared for, and understood. If we took the time to lieten, truly listen and emote, then many of our issues would go away.
Today’s Questions: How do you make sure you are listening to others? How do you make surw others are listening to you?
Scripture
- Proverbs 12:19 – The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice
- Proverbs 11:14 – Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.
- Matthew 11:15 – He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
Reflection
Being understood, cared for, and loved is essential. It makes us feel valued and loved. Our verses show us three ways of listening. First, is to be wise and listen. If we dont listen to the advice of others we are fools. Second, we need to seek out counselors to help us. We, when we love our neighbors, can be then be counselors to listen and when asked, offer advice. Third, we have to open our ears to listen. We csnt be stuck in our eays or have made up our minds withojt having all the facts.
As we close, remember how you feel when someone isn’t listening to you. They feel the same whwn when you don’t listen.
Prayer
Lord God, please help us to be excellent listeners. We pray to always losten to you, your word, and yohr plans. Help us to be the ears that others need as well. Forgive us when we mess up. In your name, Amen.
