4:287 – Honey or Vinegar?

Setting

Yesterday at girl scouts, we were talking sbout honey and bees. We even talked avout honey in tea, on cornbread, and on strawberries. It made my sweet tooth tinge. Now, hoq would that tea taste if you put vinegar in it. What about vinegar on your cornbread or strawberries? Don’t get me wrong, vinegar is good in and on some things. .

How we act towards others can be a honey or vingegar situation. When someone doesnt follow God or trears you poorly is vinegar the answer? Remember the old adage, “You catch more flies with honey than vinegar. “

Today’s Questions: How do you respond to hate? How do you help to build relationships and u derstanding woth others? When is it time to seprate from the person or people causing the harm?

• James 3:18 – Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.
• Romans 12:18 – If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.
• Colossians 3:15 – Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

Reflection

Peacemakers. That is what Jesus calls us. He wants us to sow in peace, love peacefully woth others, and be members of one family. Jesus is righteous and he qants us to reap in righteousness. This can never be done with vinegar. Just as the Jewish people weren’t expecting their messiah to come on a donkey, people wont expect you to respond with love.

This is not easy. I admit, I’ve screamed, yelled, beem angry, and hateful. I’ve done this more than I care to admit. I am glad I can be forgiven. I will continue to try to live in love at all times.

As we close, remember that honey attracts. That is what we need more of in life. Kindness and love will alwaya conquer.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, forgive us for our anger. Soemtimes it seems that anger and harsh words are the only way to make change. We know there is a time for strong action but most of the time honey is better. Tonight, we pray that you help us be kindhearted, loving, and kind in everything we do. We know that all of us are your children and should love in harmony. We pray for your guidance and love. Amen.
