October 10 – Art is a Reflection of the Artist
4:286 – Art is a Reflection of the Artist

Setting

i was paitning a few of my 3D prints this morning before church. As I was painting, I was getting mad at myself for how it was turning out. I want it to be the best it can be. Yes, I’m getting better every day, but its still not where I want it to be. I started to wo dee why I’m so concerted with how my art looks. The reason is simple. Art is a reflection of the Artist. If the art is viewed as crummy then the artist can be viewed the same way. But what does that have anything to do with faith?

The answer is simple. God made us in his image. We are his workmanship. If we as art are crummy, how do people look at our creator?

Today’s Questions: How do you represent God? How does what you make or how you act represent you?

Scripture
  • 2 Corinthians 5:20 – Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
  • Ephesians 2:10 – For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Reflection

We truly are God’s workmanship. He wants us to be as perfect as possible. When we strayed he gave us laws to follow. When couldnt follow them, he gave us Jesus to forgive all of our sins. That is how much he loves us. That is how much he values us.

Just as people know you from your art, your creations, and your actions, people know God through your actions. Be the example that God wants you to be. Show how loving, caring, and forgiving he is by how you treat others.

I’m far from a master in my art. I mess up all the time but I try to learn and do better next time. As we close remember you don’t have to be perfect, just show how much God has done for you in how you treat them.

Prayer

Lord God, thank you for creating us. Thank you for not tossing us yo the side when we were and are less that perfect. You love us even though we are badle flawed. Thabk you for forgiving us.

Father God, we pray that we are shining examples of your love and Grace for all. In your name, Amen.
