4:113 – God is Greater Than Our Ups and Downs
#faithbites #faithjourney Greater
Setting
Last night I was able to spend part of the evening with our senior pastor and his wife. It was a nice time to hang out and talk about what God is moving in us. The one distractor was his hat. See the image for this #faithbites to get what I was talking about.
I kept looking at it and finally had to say, what does your hat say. I wasn’t sure if it was Greek or something else. Then after he explained it, it made sense. In a nutshell, God (G) is Greater (>) than our Ups (^) and (˅). It is such a simple message but one we get lost in often. Our problems, while massive for us, are nothing for God. We just have trust in him and know his grace is sufficient for us and he can conquer all.
Today’s questions: Do you believe God is Greater than all? How can you truly turn everything over to him and let go?
Scripture
- Psalm 46:1 – God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
- Isaiah 41:10 – Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
- 1 Corinthians 10:13 – No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
Reflection
I often think my problems are so hard, so terrible, that I can’t get over them. There have been times when I think that no one has gone through anything remotely similar to what I am experiencing. Here are the facts: We are not alone. There is nothing that we can go through that God hasn’t seen. He is there in the beginning and will be there in the end. He won’t let us go, no matter how hard it gets.
God knows we are sinner and loves us. He will strengthen us and uphold us.
Now to think purely scientific, if God has the power to create everything, including us, we can make something that is greater than him. So he is truly greater than our ups and downs. He is consistent and constant.
As we close, remember it’s one thing to say He is greater, it’s another to act on it. Start today. Truly believe God is greater and he has this covered.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank you for always being there. Thank you for your reassurance and your guidance. Lord, remind us that we are not alone, and no matter what trouble (low) or what excitement we have (high) you are there for us. We ask for your peace as we try to remember that you are who you say you are and will always protect us. We pray all of this in your name, Amen.
