Sep 17 – I Don’t Understand
3:261 – I Don’t Understand

#faithbites #faithjourney understand

There are many things in life I don’t understand. For instance, I was facilitating a case on women’s health for work. I don’t know what it’s like to be a woman. I can’t relate. Likewise, I don’t know what it’s like to be black on America. The only thing I do understand is what is is to be me, and even that is shaky some days.

Understanding is something most of us seek. Why do some people support one thing and others support something else. How can someone believe what they do in the face of all evidence?

I often lack understanding though I try to get better. Jesus even know we wouldn’t understand why he dis what he did until much later

Are there things going on now that we just can’t understand until the future?

Scripture
  • John 13:7 – Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand
  • Isaiah 55:8 – My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.
  • Daniel 12:8 – I heard what he said, but I did not understand what he meant. So I asked, “How will all this finally end, my lord?”
Reflection

We don’t understand God and often don’t understand each other. God loves us and tells us that he will look out for us. Daniel said he didn’t understand what the Lord meant or how it would end. Jesus told the disciples they wouldn’t get what he is doing until much later.

Why would we expect to understand how God thinks or even how each other thinks.

There are people whom I would consider “Good Christians”, you don’t understand how what they are saying is hateful. There are non-Christians who say the most loving and understand things.

It’s a tipsy world for sure. The bottom line is we won’t be able to understand most things

What we can do is try to see it from their perspective and love them no matter what.

Challenge

What will you do when you don’t understand? Can you start with yourself first and think before you speak (or share). How will others take what you are saying? Is your message being delivered the right way? How can you change it to help promote understanding.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, help us to understand as best we can the actions and motivations of others. Give us your sight and your understanding to better approach and love one another. In your name, Amen.
