June 30 – Call Me Job
3:182 – Call Me Job

#faithbites #faithjourney Job

Sometimes, when life is hard, I say, “Call me, Job”. For those playing at home it’s Job (j-O-buh) not job (j-ah-b). This guy in the Bible who had so many thingsgo wrong but never lost faith.

Today was a blessing with family but also hard with personal health issues and family health issues. It just feels heavy on my shoulds

Yes, it’s not all about me. It’s still rough. The amazing thing is, no matter the struggles Job had, he was always faithful and God rewarded him.

Don’t fret, God will pull you through.

Scripture
  • Job 2:7-10 – So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and struck Job with loathsome sores from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head. And he took a piece of broken pottery with which to scrape himself while he sat in the ashes. Then his wife said to him, “Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God and die.” But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women would speak. Shall we receive good from God, and shall we not receive evil?”In all this Job did not sin with his lips.
  • Job 27:3-4 – As long as I live, while I have breath from God,my lips will speak no evil, and my tongue will speak no lies.
  • Job 42:10 – When Job prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes. In fact, the Lord gave him twice as much as before!
Reflection

Here is Job, a man who loved and had faith unending in God. No matter what was thrown at him, he didn’t waiver. Even his wife wanted him to turn away from God, but he persisted. He kept true. Not only did God not forsake him, Joseph prayed for his friends. How awesome is that? Then God rewarded Job.

Ok, I’ve been through nothing like Job. I can’t imagine the strength and fortified needed to not challenge God and not to be angry with him. But in Job foreshadows Jesus and though Jesus was punished and crucified, he never gave up.

Now we have seen how strong Job is, it’s up to us to be a strong beacon of hope, no matter what we fall info.

Challenge

Take a minute to challenge yourself to not say God has done this or why doesn’t God stop this. Remember to pray continuously and know that your faith will be reworded no matter how bleak it seems.

Prayer

Father God, so many of your children need your healing touch. We know this isn’t your fault. Forgive us when we blame you. Remind us to have Job like faith. You will reward us, heal us, and save us. Forgive us for our doubt when we struggle. Forgive us for our lack of thanks when we thrive. All good things are from you and we thank you for them. In your name, Amen.
