3:172 – Playing Music
#faithbites #faithjourney music
Setting
We are going to take a break from the heavy #faithbites topics of the past few months and go for something a little lighter. Today, I took my eldest to try instruments for the school band. She tried trumpet and baritone. She was able to make notes on both but preferred the baritone. So here we go. It will be “delightful” as she starts learning how to play. I was so excited to see how happy she was.
Music is essential to who we are. It conveys emotions that words alone are unable to. It makes us move, dance, cry, smile, and more. That is why singing and music is such a huge part of our worship. It doesn’t matter if we are talking traditional or contemporary service, music makes it feel more complete.
Scripture
- 1 Chronicles 23:5 – 4,000 gatekeepers, and 4,000 shall offer praises to the Lord with the instruments that I have made for praise.”
- 2 Samuel 6:5 – And David and all the house of Israel were making merry before the Lord, with songs and lyres and harps and tambourines and castanets and cymbals.
- Psalm 150:3 – Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp!
Reflection
The Bible is filled with instruments, so going, and praise. It doesn’t matter if you are good at it, just sing to the Lord. I tell people I can’t carry a tune in a bucket. Heck, I don’t even have a bucket. I can’t sing or dance but love doing both.
So let’s praise God in anyway our heart needs to. In song, with music, with instruments, however we need to, to praise him and make a joyful noise.
Challenge
Sing or play. It doesn’t matter how good you our. Just call out to Jesus in song.he will listen and be pleased.
Prayer
Lord God, thank you for the gift of music and song. You have given us many ways to praise you. Let us use these gifts to make music, sing songs, and just praise you until we meet yoy.i. Your name, Amen.
