2:293 – Life Can Be Simple

#faithbites #faithjourney simple

Today, we started a new girl scout troop for kindergartners. I asked them what they like to do. Most answered “I like to play” and “I like to learn”. They weren’t specific about what they like to play or what they like to learn. In essence, they were open to what may come.

As adults, we try to be so specific on everything and plan to the last degree, then when we dont as achieve perfection, we are disappointed.

Image if we were like kindergartners and just kept things simple. Have fun, play, learn, be nice. We wouldn’t be as disappointed and would have more energy to serve.

Scripture

  • But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ. – 2 Corinthians 11:3 (NASB)
  • But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.” – 1 Timothy 6:6-7

Reflection

Loving Jesus can be simple. Accept him, confess your sins, and accept his forgiveness and salvation. We make it messy by thinking we have to know X number of scriptures, worship in a certain way, or do Y acts of service. We also get into the fruitless discussion of what being worthy means. That pulls us away from Christ, rather than towards him. When we look at our 1 Timothy verse, we see what we all know: You start with nothing and le was very this earth with nothing. You can’t take it with you.

Those girls dont way anything about gaining something new but rather about experiences. Have fun, play, learn, and make new friends.

As they say, from the mouths of babes.

Challenge

Are you getting too detailed in your planning? Are you so specific, that you can’t enjoy simple things? If so, take a step back and get back to basics. Love God and Love your Neighbors. Simple

Prayer

Heavenly Lord, thank you for your presence in your life. Thank you for sbowing us how simple things can be if we follow how kids live, learn, and play. We make it tok complex, to hard, when loving and following you can be simple. Help us to not get in our own way and just love you. We pray this in your name Jesus, Amen.
