2:171 – Sharing Is Caring
#faithbites #faithjourney sharing
The past few #faithbites have been pretty heavy so we are going to back off a bit. Today, I want to talk about the power of sharing. Be it food, time, movies, or just your presence, when you share with someone you give a piece of yourself to them. Think about that when someone shares something with you.
Tonight, I wanted to share the original Men In Black with my eldest. She didn’t really seem into it and before it got good, Will Smith joining the MIB, she wanted to go watch videos. I wanted to share that with her as it’s a goofy movie and I shared it with my dad. I guess it didn’t work out that way. At least before the movie, I had a good talk with the girls about my dad, about health and the importance of doctors. Alice said she almost cried for me because I don’t have my daddy.
We have so much to share with each other. One of the greatest things we can share is the love of Jesus with others. They may not follow Christ, they may not go to church, but when you share His love, it can change their lives for ever.
Scripture
- And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. – Hebrews 13:16
- But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. – Luke 6:35
- The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor. – Proverbs 22:9
Reflection
Love seems to come up all the time in #faithbites. Why, because it’s a constant of what we share. We share his love. When we share, as it says in Hebrews we sacrifice something (give a piece of ourselves) for someone else. This pleases God. We know all things belong to good and we are his stewards. Sharing physical things are important, more important is helping others to find God. As it says in Luke, we can’t expect anything in return, that is true sharing. I try to give unselfishly of my time and energy all the time.
Sometimes, I get something back, most times I don’t. That’s ok, as I was told don’t give anything that you can’t live without. Tonight, I shared something and didn’t get back. But right now, she is laying next to me, sharing her time, and helping me select a picture for this #faithbite. Not what I had planned, but God works in mysterious ways.
Charge
Give of your time, talent, and treasure to others. It may not go how you intended it to, but God will work through you. Simple acts of love and sharing go a long way.
Prayer
Lord, help us to be better sharers of you, your goodness, and everything you’ve given us. Help us to be open to sharing and know that sometimes it won’t go as planned. Give us the patience to be persistent and share you, how ever we can. Thank you for all that you give us. In your heavenly name, Amen.
