Today’s lesson is about thanking people personally.
We have talked a few times about gratitude. In those discussions, we thank God for the bounty that we have. I like to be thanked. I love recognition for a job well done. I like to see how people’s lives have been improved by what I’ve done. Today, at a committee meeting, I helped set up the voting system, walked people through it, and answered any questions. One of my colleagues thanked me a couple of times during the meeting. At the end of the meeting, she thanked God for sending me to her to help. I never thought of God sending me to help her but rather this is something I’m good at. Then I thought, God gave me these skills and abilities to help people. In this case, it took a huge load off of her, allowed her to focus on her gifts, and know that everything else would be taken care of. It made me feel good, it made her feel good, and it helped the everyone in the room.
In a related case, I was listening to Reggae and Ska this morning on the way into work. I had it loud, the sun was shining, and I was dancing in the car all the way in. I got to the meeting, setup, and one of the people who attended said she was following me on the highway and into the parking deck. I didn’t know it was her. She said you were so cute, just enjoying everything, and rocking out. It made her day and helped give a really great start to the day. These little moments are gifts from God, that we need to be thankful for and share with everyone.
“I thank my God everytime I remember you.” – Philippians 1:3
“May the Lord now show you kindness and faithfulness, and I too will show you the same favor because you have done this.” – 2 Samuel 2:6
The Bible is full of thanking people for their good works and deeds while remembering God sent them to help and do those deeds. I am blessed to have people of faith around me who share their thankfulness for me and for God positioning me in their lives. I wish that everyone feels that love of their neighbor and God, who truly appreciates them and thanks them for being.
Are you ready to share how thankful you are for others? Are you positioning your life to give thanks to God for putting people in your life when you need them the most?
I am (with the help of God)
