Setting

My head is spinning out of control today. The events from yesterday and some good news today, have left me spinning. I know I need to let it go, but right don’t I don’t even know what it is. Happiness, grief, excitement, loss, and possibilities are flooding my mind right now. Say that right now is crazy, seems to be an understatement. If God made the world, surely he can stop my head from spinning.

Today’s Questions: What do you do when your head is spinning? How can you help others quiet their minds and focus on God.

Scripture
  • John 14:2727 “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
  • Romans 15:13 I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Reflection

God made us and is our source of peace. He wants us to have peace of mind and heart. He sent Christ to die for our sins to have it. We often get in the way of ourselves by spreading ourselves too thin, neglecting to take care of ourselves, and pursuing interests that are not his. Don’t feel bad if you do this, we all do. But we can all get better. If we take the time to breathe, focus, and do what he wants, he will quiet our minds. God also gave us the Holy Spirit. His job is to build faith in us and trust in him. His confidence will flow through us.

It may seem hard right now to get past the grief, loss, or anxiety. But this too shall pass. He shall make things clear, quiet the spinning, and put you back on the right path. You just need to trust him.

As we close, start writing things down to help with the clutter in the mind. Share your heart to others. Sleep. All of these things will help quiet the spinning and put you on track to see and know God.

Prayer

Father God, help us to cut past the spinning and the fog. Let us see you for who you are and dedicate our lives to following you. We ask for your guidance as we try to push away those thoughts and activities that bring us down, confuse us, and put us in the spin cycle. We ask for your help as we continue to move on, grow, and experience life. In your name, Amen.
