Dec 6 – Sincerity Matters
2:340 – Sincerity Matters

#faithbites #faithjourney sincerity

Today is one of those days when your child just doesnt listen. My little one has been arguing all day and doing the opposite of what she’s been told. After she gets in trouble, she will say sorry and go back to doing it. This even when I told her I wasnt happy with her behavior, her response was I know, and kept doing her thing. I had go walk away.

We’ve talked about practicing what you preach. Tonight, what you preach must be sincere. Your words have meaning. Make sure that you are truthful in word and in intent. Just saying your sorry for instance, doesnt mean you are sorry. Sincerity is key.

Scripture
  • For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God’s word, but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ – 2 Corinthians 2:17
  • Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth. – 1 John 3:18
  • The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. – 1 Timothy 1:5
Reflection

Being sincere separates us from others. We dont peddle God’s word, we believe it, act upon it, and live it. Our thoughts, words, and deeds should all be aligned.

My dad once told me it’s easier to tell the truth because you dont have to remember the lies you told. Being sincere is the same thing. Show who you are and be honest in all things. Sincerity in faith, words, and deeds, helps us emulate Christ even more.

Challenge

If you snicker at something you’ve said, were you being sincere? Don’t day it if you dont mean it. Try to listen to what you say and check if you truly mean it. If not, make a change.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, give me strength in dealing with my children. Help us all to be sincere in our words, thoughts, and deeds. Remind us that your word is truth and our word should be your word. We love you and your way. Help us to be better in all we say and do. In your name, Amen.
