5:63 – What Are You Looking For?
#faithbites #faithjourney looking
Intro
Have you ever found yourself, head in the fridge or the pantry, looking for something to eat but have no idea what you want? Or you go to a store to shop and are wondering what you went in there for? We’ve all been there before. It feels weird. You know you want and need something but aren’t sure what you ar eookibg for.
Is your #faithjourney like this? Maybe you just have no idea of who’s doing what to whom for how many twinkies. The great thing is what we plan doesn’t matter, as long as we focus on God.
Questions to Ponder
- What is your plan for deepening your relationship with God?
- How does your plan change how you interact with the others?
- As you move forward, what are you looking for now?
Scripture
- Proverbs 16:9 – In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.
- Ephesians 2:8-9 – For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
- John 18:7 – Again he asked them, “Who is it you want?” “Jesus of Nazareth,” they said.
Reflection
We mmay think we know what we are looking for. We may even have a plan that we are following. But God has a way of messing with us and redirecting us to what we really need and where we really need to be.
As we close, remember our works don’t grant us salvation, Jesus does. When we go looking, let’s make sure it’s God we are looking for and not someone else.
Prayer
Father Gid, we are often looking for something but may not be sure what it is. Help us to always find you in whatever form we need at that minute. Help us feel your presence and know that you are leading us where we need to go. We pray this in your name, Amen.
