4:259 – Goodness is Everywhere. Sometimes You Have To Look Hard

Setting

Today I was in a Zoom meeting with a friend and colleague. I was very uoaet, sad, and just beat down. I got some news that shattered what I thought would happen. Then my friend told me I had a heart behind me. I didnt know what she meant. Then I looked and there was a perfect shadow of a heart on my folding doors. Ive never seen it beforw. But at that moment, things felt a little better. God was there.

God is always there, goodness us always there. Sometimes we are so wrapped up in what we are doing, we miss it. Other times we need our friends and loved ones to point it out. This is how God works!

Scripture
  • Psalm 34:8 – Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him
  • Psalm 145:9 – The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made.
  • 1 Timothy 4:4 – For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,
Reflection

I’ve said this many times before, life is hard. It is very easy to forget that we have a God who loves us, gives us so much, and has goodness everywhere. They say the squeaky wheel gets the attention. When we are so focused on what we want or didnt get, we miss the auiet subtle nature of God. We need to be still and see it.

Let’s not forget our friends. We need them to help us see what we can’t and for us to help them. Being outside the situation can really brkng new perspective. I couldn’t see the heart on my door because i was faced away from it, but now its all I see.

Prayers

Lord Jesus, thank you for the beauty that is in the word and the world. Soemtimes we can’t see you or what you provide because we have been tempted or consumed with something else. Tonight we pray for two things. First, remove the blindness from our eyes so we can see. Second, if we can’t see it, give us friends to help point the way to see everything you give. In your name, we pray Amen.
