July 3 – ASK And You Shall Recieve
4:184 – ASK And You Shall Recieve

#faithbites #faithjourney ask

Setting

This week at work, I did something, I have never done before. I advocated for a promotion to advance the mission of my work and to advance my own career. This is foreign to me. I am used to doing for others without asking for myself. We are told it is much better to give than recieve. But it’s not bad to receuve. God didn’t make us to not have our needs met. But, out loved ones are not mind readers, they need to know what we need, to be able to give. If we don’t stand up and ask, we will never get what we need. If we ask and don’t receive then we can better examine our relationships.

God tells us that he will answer prayers and has great plans for us. God also says ask and you shall Recieve. That ask is in prayer but if we don’t ask, we won’t receive. Even God puts some responsibility on us in the cycle. Even though he tells us that, it is still hard for me.

Today’s Questions: Do you ask for what you need? If not, why not? How can you be more proactive in getting your needs met?

Scripture
  • Matthew 7:7 – Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.
  • Mark 11:24 – Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
Reflection

Getting whar you need us a two parts process. The receiving is nice but you have to ask. A friend just told me a story that a friend of his never got a promotion. He asked his boss why he was being passed up when the boss new he wanted the job. The boss said, no, I didn’t know, because you never told me.

God knows our heart but we have to ask him in prayer. We have to stand up for ourselves, seek God’s guidance, and ask. It’s not easy to do if you aren’t used to asking for it. I feel selfish when I ask. I’m starting to learn, that it’s not being selfish to ask. So it is a work in progress for me.

Our acrioture shows is that God wants us to call on him, seek what we need, and it will be given to us.

As we close, remember that others can give you what you want if you don’t tell them. God will answer your prayers when you make them. Time to get to work!

Prayer

Lord Godz we thank you for answered prayers. Tonight w pray for courage and strength to make our needs known. We know not everyone will understand us asking, but you do. You are creating in us a spirit of asking, standing up for ourselves, and then listening to your plans. We pray this in your name, Amen.
