Waiting on the Lord
June 22 – Waiting for the Lord!
4:173 – Waiting for the Lord!

#faithbites #faithjourney waiting

Setting

If I could sum up the past month or so, it would be change. Work colleagues leaving, close friends moving or potentially moving away, relatives becoming their true self, moving form one office to another, just a lot of change. Right now it seems like all the change is happening around me but not for me. Don’t get me wrong, I am blessed, but I’m waiting for my moment.

As I was trying to determine a topic for today, I searched out the Bible verse of the day, and as always, God doesn’t disappoint. Today’s is Psalm 27:14. Waiting is the answer!

Today’s questions: What are you waiting for? What prayer have you send to God asking for clarification and direction? How do you bide your time until God answers?

Scripture
  • Psalm 21:14 – Wait patiently for the LORD. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the LORD.
  • Isaiah 40:31 – But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
  • Lamentations 3:25 – The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.
  • James 5:7-8 – Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.

Reflection

Patience is a virtue. It is also one that I’m not great at. God tells us to be still and just wait. He tells us to be brave and courageous and wait patiently for him. When we are still or waiting, we will renew our strength, gaining the precious fruit God has to offer.

I want answers now. I want to know if my good friends will be with me in a few months. Will I have opportunities for growth and advancement or do I need to look elsewhere? Where will my #faithjourney led? I have more questions that answers. But I have faith in Jesus and he says to be patient and just wait.

As we close, find a way to wait patiently. Pick up a hobby, delve deeper into his word, find people who will speak life and truth into you. We don’t have to know what the answer is to know that God has an answer, we just have to wait.

Prayer

Father God, thank you for always being there for us. You know the plans you have for us as you’ve known it since before we were born. Lord we ask for you to help us rest knowing that it will all be ok in the end. When we falter Lord, give us strength to know that your timing is the right timing and what we need. We pray for your guidance, love, and strength. In your name, Amen.
