June 3 – Carry His Word On You
4:154 –  Carry His Word On You

Setting

Yesterday, while getting on a dolphin cruise, I noticed one of the crew had Romans 8:18 tattooed on her arm. While I’m learning the Bible, that isn’t one I know by heart. So, I looked it up and shared it with my family. A couple of others on the boat heard me and said Amen. That crew member, unbeknownst to her, just shared God’s word with those around her. This is similar to a character on 9-1-1 Lonestar who had Psalm 31 on his hand.

We know that all scripture is breathed out by God and is useful for teaching and living life. His word is powerful. I’m not sure if I would get a tattoo of a verse but it leads to today’s questions.

How do you keep the word on God on your heart and mind? How do you share the word with those around you? If you did get a tattoo or other verse, what would it be and why?

Scripture
Reflection

From the moment I saw that tattoo, I started thinking about the verse and what it means to me. That is the power of God’s word.

Today I see 2 Timothy, which I have shared before, with new light. I know about the power of His word and that it is good for teaching. The word I missed before is All. Why is that important? There are pieces of scripture that make us feel good and we share it often. Others make us uncomfortable.and we avoid it. God is tell us that all of it is important. We need to read the whole story to understand how it fits together. Then we realize what God means, uncomfortable bits and all.

As we close, I will share my confirmation verse, this is what I would have tattooed on if I did. Jeremiah 33:3 – Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.

Prayer

Lord, we thank you for your word. We ask for your help in how to keep it on our hearts, our minds, and share it with others. Help us see all of your word and know that we can learn from it. We pray this in your name, Amen.
