May 5 – Not Positive But Keeping The Faith
4:125 – Not Positive But Keeping The Faith

#faithbites #faithjourney positive

Setting

Buck Up. Stay Positive. It’s not that bad. Cheer Up. You’ve got this! All of these are nice sentiments and are meant well, but sometimes it is the wrong message. Life can be hard and it’s ok to be mad, upset, and not positive all the time.

It’s a hard lesson for me to learn as I want to be positive and cheery all the time. The message for today is we can feel down and upset but if we keep the faith, we will prevail. God will never let us down.

Today’s Questions: Do you allow yourself to not be positive when facing struggle? Do you let yourself feel the ups and downs of life? How do you keep the faith even when you don’t feel positive?

Scripture
  • Psalm 18:2 – The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
  • Romans 12:12 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect
Reflection

Many of us only go to God when times are tough. We are already in a bad place and then ask for help. Our God answers no amtter if we come to him in good times or bad times. He is our rock and salvation. He carries us through any storm in our life.

Our main verse for today is Romans 12:12, where God tells us not to be comforted to this world. Our roughest days are when soemthing early goes wrong. Maybe it’s a schedule change, a lost relationship, a promotion that didn’t go through, a betrayal, or a hundred other things. These hurt to our core.

The issue is compounded when people say Buck Up or get over it. God doesn’t tell us not to feel. He tells us to come to him for rest. He lets us know that no matter our struggle here on Earth, he loves us and will fufil His promises.

As we close, remember it’s ok to feel down and not happy. We aren’t machines. Just reside in your faith and God’s promises to pull you through.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank you for the range of emotions you gave us. We want to always have the positive emotions but know that to truly appreciate life, we take the good and the bad. We pray that when we aren’t feel our best that you comfort us and help us through it. We turn it all over to you and have faith unending in you and your promises. In your name, Amen.
