Work The Plan
April 26 – Make a Plan, Work The Plan

#faithbites #faithjourney plan

Setting

I am in the 4th year of writing #faithbites and who knows how long you’ve been reading them. I hope that you have progressed in your #faithjourney over this time. If not, it’s never too late to start. I recently shared my interest in the Bible Project as they provide short videos to help you dig into scripture. A pastor told me that Youversion Bible had plans that link to the Bible Project Videos. Well, I figured I’d put my money where my mouth was and look up the various reading plans because if nothing changes, nothing changes. When I went to look, I was overwhelmed by the sheer number of plans out there. The beauty is you can find a plan on any topic. From Resurrection to change to anxiety, love, anger, or just about anything, including a full year to read the Bible, you have it. We know God loves us and wants us no matter what. Imagine how much deeper our connection to him would be if we knew more about him and our faith? So, find a plan and work it!

Today’s Question: Do you have a daily plan to deepen your faith? If not, what can you do to start something to further your #faithjourney

Scripture
  • Proverbs 16:3 – “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”
  • 2 Chronicles 15:7 – “But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.”
  • Hebrews 12:1-2 – “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.”
Reflection

It’s always easy to say than do something. We need to commit to the Lord and he will reward all of our work. It’s time to get to work. You may be wondering what happens if I miss a day? What if I don’t select the right plan? Do I have time to add something new? The key is to have Grace. You will miss a day, and that’s ok. Is a plan not working for you? Pray and modify it? I often say I’m too busy to add something new. Then I realize I’ve spent 30 minutes playing a game on my phone. What if I spent that time, or even 10 minutes, on reading the scripture or watching a Biblically-based video? It’s time to stop making excuses and start working on the plan. If you stumble, ask for forgiveness, and get back up! We can do this together. You are not alone.

As we close, are you ready to work on your plan? What if you shared your plan with us here? We can be your support. Let’s get ready, studying, living, and sharing our faith.

Prayer

Lord God, thank you for your word and the many ways to learn it. You know we are busy people. Help us to be busy with the things you want us to do. Remove all of the clutter so we can make space for spiritual growth. We also pray that you help us bring others on the journey with us. We know faith is not a solitary thing. Let us grow together in you. In your name, Amen.
