April 25 – Saying Vs Showing
4:115 – Saying Vs Showing

#faithbites #faithjourney saying

Setting

How do you feel when someone says, “I love you? How do you feel when someone shows they love you? These two simple questions, shared by our pastor this morning, really got me thinking.

I’ve had many people say they love me, but few show it. Saying is one thing, showing is another. Showing love can be hard as we all have different love languages. My two are acts of service and physical touch. What are yours?

When we say, “God Loves You”, to someone, do we show his love? It’s empty to just say God loves you without treating them as a blessed and loved child of God.

Today’s Questions: How do you go from saying to showing God’s love? What can you to act as someone loved by God?

Scripture
  • John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
  • John 15:13 – Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
  • 2 Corinthians 13:12 – Greet one another with a holy kiss.
Reflection

Our verses above show my two love languages, service and touch. God sacrificed his only son for my (and everyone else’s) soul. He laid down his life for us. How epically awesome is that. Then we are told to greet each other with a holy kiss. This isn’t a romantic kiss or a friendly kiss, it’s God working through you. We are touched by God.

It doesn’t matter how you show your love or show that you are a child of God. It’s up to us to go from saying to showing. We need to help others see by our actions that we are blessed children of God and so are they.

As we close, what are you going to do to move from saying to showing? What actions will you take yo be a doer.and not just a sayer?

Prayer

Father God, than you for showing us your love. We pray to emulate you and show others that your word is true, that you chose them, and they are loved no matter what. Help us when we fail and forgive us. We pray for your guidance as we take action. In your name, Amen.
