3:365 – Go, Therefore: Sharing Your Faith
#faithbites #faithjourney therefore
Setting
Twas, the day before the day before the New Year. For most, this is a reflective time. A time to look back at the year and look forward to next year. For me, I look at what role faith and God have played in my life. I have had many ups and downs this past year. In each of them, I see where my faith helped me and at times when I had a lack of faith and it hurt me. No matter the day, I still wrote a #faithbites. Why? Because I feel that I need to share my #faithjourney to help others. And as we discussed yesterday, I can’t do your faith for you, you have to do it.
As we continue living our lives and making resolutions, how are we going to change ideas to action? As a reminder, #faithbites started in January 2018 because in November 2017, a friend who posted bible verses each day, was leaving Facebook. I took up the mantle and before long, #faithbites became a way for me to explore my #faithjourney. I want to say thank you to everyone who has been on the journey with me. The question is, are you willing to take the next step?
Scripture
Matthew 28:19-20 – 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Reflection
The Great Commission, as it is referred to, is Jesus tell his disciples to make disciples and for those disciples to make more disciples. Jesus didn’t say, “Sol, therefor go and make….”, he didn’t call out one disciple, he called out everyone. He gave us a command. He also told us that not only should we make disciples and teach them what he commanded, but also, he will be with us to the very end of the age.
What does this mean?
It means all of us who follow Christ, have a responsibility to share our faith. And we are not alone. Many religions have a command to go out and teach and share. It doesn’t rest with one person.
The question I will live you to wrestle with until New Year’s Day, is what will you be willing to do to help make disciples or to share your faith? This is the challenge as well. Write down what you have done and what steps you are willing to commit to. As #faithbites evolves and my #faithjourney with it, I’m going to need some help. More to come soon. But for tonight, think about how you are or are not actively making disciples.
Blessings on the rest of your day.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank you for commanding us to share our faith with others. You tell us to do it with love, kindness, and understanding. Help us to look deep and find out how we want to share it, how best you’ve equipped us to share it, and give us the strength to follow through with that commission. We pray all of these things in your name, Amen.
