Nov 28 – Always A Chance To Learn
3:333 – Always A Chance To Learn

#faithbites #faithjourney chance

Setting

My youngest really enjoys musicals. Last night, we introduced her to Chicago! She loved it. She was bothered that the one innocent person was hanged. Not only that but she was an immigrant who didn’t speak the language and didn’t have the money other defendants did. Even though this was for entertainment, we had a good discussion about laws, society, haves and have not, and immigrants. It was heavy but a good conversation. I think she got it.

We didn’t set down to the movie to have a life lesson. But when they present themselves, we need to take the opportunity to learn. You may never get that chance again.

God gives us lessons all the time. It is our choice if we learn from it or if we let it pass. What do you choose?

Scripture
  • Proverbs 9:9 – Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.
  • Titus 2:1 – But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine.
Reflection

We never know when a teachable moment will appear. If we want to be wise, we need to be able to learn. As parents, guardians, or friends, we should help those in our care and who we care about to help them learn. It just takes a few moments to really alter someone’s life. They may not remember the specific teaching moment, but they will remember the feeling and the time you spent with them.

I hope that my children appreciate these little life lessons that we sprinkle throughout everytwe are doing. It’s nice because we don’t have to sit down to have “the talk”, it just naturally comes up. Look to what God is showing you and what he is telling you to teach.

Challenge

This one is a bit harder because you can’t really plan for it. Look out for those teachable moments. Engage those around you and start a discussion. You never know where it will lead.

Prayer

Father God, thank you for the many life lessons you give us. Create in us both a teaching and teachable spirit. Help us to share the message you want others to know. Give us the words and the courage to teach no matter what. We love you Lord and thank you for making us doers of your word. In your name, Amen.
