3:285 – Please Help Me
#faithbites #faithjourney help
Setting
I’m a pretty stubborn, strong willed person. It’s hard for me to ask for help. Today I had a good friend install my new garage door opener for me. I did a little bit but without him, it wouldn’t have been installed.
Do you have troubles asking for help from others? What about asking for help from God?
Scripture
Hebrews 4:16 – “Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
Reflection
God built us to move in community with each other. Part of that is knowing when to ask for and accept help, not only from God but from each other.
Our society has put an emphasis on individual success and those who need help are seen as weak. This is the opposite of what God wants. He says we have strength for believing in Him and living according to his laws.
It is not weakness but strength to ask for and accept help. Let us work together to change the stigma on asking for help. One day at a time.
Challenge
Have you been needing help but are afraid to ask because of how people will react? Don’t get caught up in how people thing. God says to ask for help, let’s do it.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank you for community. Thank you for showing us how we need to work together in love and fellowship. The world we live in idolizes individual success and effort but usually frowns upon those who need help. Asking for help is a sign of weakness. Lord, let us change the world and show that we better and stronger working together. We pray for your guidance as we move forward. In your name, Amen.
