3:272 – His Words, Our Voice
#faithbites #faithjourney words
Setting
Last night I had a dream about a good friend. I reached out to her because of that dream and she was going through a challenging time. I have no idea why I dreamt that then maybe it was the Holy Spirit nudging me to a person in need. God acts in mysterious ways.
In the past few days, I have at least three conversations about the everyday that turned to who we are as a people, where we get our value from, and the role that God plays in all that. God acts in mysterious ways.
Yesterday during church, I saw a woman who was heard of hearing signing and a visually impaired person feeling her hands so they could listen to and participate in service. God provides ways.
My children have had situations where it starts out normal but hten gets to issues of self worth and important. God’s word again comes up. God works in mysterious ways.
I don’t know a lot of scripture. I am far from a Christian expert. What i’ve found is the more I dig into his word, the more he uses my voice to spread it. It’s always done in the spirit of kindness, love, and understanding. God finds a way.
Scripture
- John 6:63 – It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.
- 1 John 4:12 – No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.
- Matthew 24:14 – And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
Reflection
God has given us an instruction manual for life. This helps us to live fully and with each other. When we read it and share it in the spirit in which it is intended, we grow. As you can see by my examples, God is always present and his word can always come up. We just need to let it.
You may be thinking you need to know exact scripture and verse. You don’t. If you study his word, the intent will imprint on your heart. I was talking to my youngest about memorizing scripture for school. I told her it is so we always have it on our heart. She said it was too much for her heart and would fall off. I said, nope. There is always room for scripture.
The thing is, Jesus shared the word through parable or stories. When you share what God has done in your life, you are sharing the word as Jesus did. As you devote more time to his word, you will see how it changes you and the conversations you have. We aren’t talking about bible thumping, just love, understanding, and forgiveness.
Lest you think I’m a saint, I am far from perfect. I mess up everyday. I don’t go into his word enough. It’s a goal to strive for. God works in mysterious ways. We all can find a reason for hope, love, peace, comfort, and restoration, through his word. Let’s use our voice to spread it.
Challenge
Two choices today. 1) Make a committment to read his word at least 5 minutes a day. That’s it. Read a daily devotion. Open up to a random book and chapter. Just five minutes. See how that impacts your life over time. 2) Share his word. It can be direct passages, concepts, or even your story. His word is alive. We just need to use our voice.
Prayer
Father God, I pray for friends and loved ones struggling today. Those who are afraid of hurt, rejection, loneliness, isolation, and despair. Remind them that your word tells us you love us no matter what. Your word says we are wonderfully made in you. Lord, we can’t do it without you. Be with all of us and let us know that your word is your voice. Your word is your commitment. Help us to follow you always. Create in us a desire to learn your word. As your word is how we know you.
Lord, we pray all of these things in your name, Amen.
