3:96 – Unfinished
#faithbites #faithjourney Unfinished
For Christmas I was given a Rokr model kit to build. At first, I worked on it and I go back to it every week or so. Right now it’s sitting on my desk, unfinished. It will be great, but the work isn’t done yet.
Today is Palm Sunday and we start with the Triumphal entry into Jerusalem.(Luke 19:28-44) The disciples and Jesus knew what was coming but his work was still unfinished. It was hard work and the disciples tried to persuade him otherwise, but He knew what he had to do for us.
Do you have unfinished business?
Scripture
- And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. – Philipians 1:6
- All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty. – Proverbs 14:23
Reflection
We have work to be done. This work isn’t just in the world but also in ourselves. We need to be cleaned and learn the way of Christ. A good work has been started in us through Jesus, but it is unfinished.
You can’t finish it in your own. You can’t by a book or self-help class to do it. The only way to complete this work is to go to your Father, then listen and learn. Through Jesus, you will become finished.
So my model sits in an unfinished state as does my dissertation, but I digress. I need to find how to not only complete these tasks but also the work God has set out for me.
Are you ready to get to work?
Challenge
Do you have your faith task list ready? Do you have faith in Christ? If so, then get ready for your Triumphal entry into heaven. Until that day, work on your rough edges to complete the work that was started at birth.
Prayer
Lord, we enter Holy Week in anticipation of the resurrection. Yet, we know we have to go through the crucification first. The work is unfinished as it is in us. Help us to be strong. Give us the energy and direction to finish the work you started in us at our creation. We love you and give you all the glory, Amen.
