3:1 – My Resolution: Love
#faithbites #faithjourney resolution
Happy New Year, All. Today we start year three of #faithbites. I can’t believe this is #faithbite number 730. Thanks for reading and sticking with me.
Most of what I’ve seen today in the media and social media is about resolutions. I resolve to lose weight or go to church more. She makes a resolution to read more books or connect with friends. They make a resolution to travel more or be nice or whatever.
All of these resolutions break down to love. Love of self, love of others, love of God. Everything relates to making your life or the life of others better. These resolutions are about love.
The one person you never have to worry about not loving you is God. You are loved. He resolved to love you from before you were born, until you die.
What is your resolution?
Scripture
- See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. – 1 John 3:1
- The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness. – Jeremiah 31:3
- Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever. – Psalm 136:26
Reflection
God loves you. He is love. You are love and loved. You have nothing to fear as God is there.
No matter where you are in your life or what you have resolved to do, know that it is about love. Feel that love of Christ and explore that. Every resolution will be more powerful, more stronger, and give you the strength to complete it, if it partnered with God.
A friend asked people to put their resolution in one word. My word is love. I love because he loved me first.
Challenge
As you finalize your resolutions, break it down to why you have made it. It probably breaks down to loving yourself, your neighbor, or God. Challenge yourself each day to remember that reason and know that God is love and loves you.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for allowing us to start a new day, a new month, a new year, and a new decade. We love you and thank you for loving us first. You have shown us perfect love. As we start this new year, let us remember that everything we are doing should be for love and you have blessed us with ultimate love. When we stumble in our resolutions, help us pick it back up with love and understanding. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. In your name, Amen.
