2:362 – You Saw The Movie How Many Times?

#faithbites #faithjourney movie

It seems to be a badge of honor and of fandom when someone says how many times they’ve seen a particular movie. For some its the total number of times seen, other break it down into the number of times seen in the theater and a home. Either way, the prevailing reasons are “I like it” or “each time I see it, I get something new out of it.”

Reading the Bible is like this. Each time you read it, you are in a slightly different place in your life and will get something slightly different out of it.

We know that new verses dont just pop on. It must be that our heart, minds, and souls, are ready to learn what God hs for us.

Scripture
  • For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart – Hebrews 4:12
  • What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. – Philippians 4:9
Reflection

God has given us his word, not just to learn, but to put into action. His word is active both in what we take from it and in how we act according to it. When we practice these things, we show God’s glory.

Many people read the Bible daily. Not the whole, Bible, but follow a daily devotion or Bible plan. It doesnt matter how many times they’ve read through it, they learn and grow.

Imagine if we put as much effort reading and putting into practice what we learn from the bible, as we do watching a movie and quoting lines.

Challenge

As we approach 2020, start a devotion plan. The YouVersion app is a great way to do it. Dive into His Word and learn.

Prayer

Lord, thank you for your word. Help us live in it and act accordingly. Give us the knowledge to interpret and put your lessons into practice. Help us be persistent in our study. Thank you Lord, Amen.
