God is seeing how and when you will trust him as you're waiting

2:350 – Wait Just A Little While Longer

#faithbites #faithjourney wait

Today, we got a great offer to redo our siding. Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough cash stocked up to do it. We looked at a loan but weren’t approved. Then we said, we just need to wait a little longer. We have been doing great with Dave Ramsey and what’s 6 more months of waiting?

In our church building project, we were ready to go, but the bank said not just yet. You need to wait a little longer.

The funny thing is, we are in the season of advent. Advent is all about waiting. We know that Christ is coming, but we have to wait for his birth. We prepare the way and wait.

We also know that Christ is coming back at some point, but we have to wait for that as well. Waiting is hard, but as they say “Good Things Come to Those Who Wait”.

Scripture
  • Wait for the LORD and keep his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the land; you will look on when the wicked are cut off. – Psalms 37:34
  • The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. – Lamentations 3:24
  • The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. – 2 Peter 3:9
  • But as for me, I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me. – Micah 7:7
Reflection

Scripture is full of people waiting. Waiting to return to the promise land. Waiting for the prophecies to come true. Praying and Praying for answers that may not come. Even Simeon (Luke2:25) was patient and waited for Jesus. He knew he would come, even though it was a much longer wait than he hoped for.

Sure, we all want things now. That is our nature. But God never breaks his promises. He will fulfill all of our needs and we shall not perish.

We are in a season of waiting, but that time will end and we will have all of his Righteousness and peace forever.

Challenge

Is there something you are waiting for? Are you trying to shortcut it? Turn it over to God and wait. He may not work on your time scale, but he will work.

Prayer

Lord, you give us so much and yet we want more. We want all of the answers and all of the things now. We don’t want to wait. Instill in us a sense of peace, patience, and love. Remind us that you will give us what we need in the way you want us to have it. We are eagerly waiting for your return and we will wait until we see you. In your name, Amen.
