2:282 – You Can’t Take It With You
#faithbites #faithjourney #redletterchallenge Take
You may have heard the saying, “He who dies with the most toys, wins.” Then there is the more realistic one, “He who dies with the most toys, still dies.”
When it comes to giving, we can be stingy. I know I can. Either I give too much or I give too little. The thing that is hard to do is realize that our money, isn’t ours. God created everything and everything is his. If we have faith, we will give it away, and he will provide for us.
Scripture
- Behold, to the Lord your God belong heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth with all that is in it. – Deuteronomy 10:14
- Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all. – 1 Chronicles 29:11
- “‘Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.'” – Malachi 3:20
Reflection
If we believe the Bible is true, then everything we have belongs to God. We are merely stewards of it. If we believe the Bible is true, then we know that God will reward us and provide for us when we give.
Fear is a tool of the devil. We fear what the future will bring if we dont hold onto everything we have. Faith is giving without a clear plan for the future. Faith is understanding God will work through his people to provide.
As I write this, I am nervous, as I wonder what the future will bring. If I give too much, will my family go without. But, if I’m true to my faith, then I have to believe God will provide. While we can’t take it with us, it can do wonders when given in His. Ame.
Challenge
Give. Look at what your giving and give a bit more. It doesnt have to be all your money. Increase and pray over your gift. Ask God to provide and bless you. You will never know what wonders he will do.
Prayer
Lord God, we know everything we have is from you. We also know our money can go places and do things that we can never do. Open our hearts and tell us everything will be ok. Remind us that you will provide for us. Instill in us a heart of generosity and love. This may be hard and uncomfortable to discuss, but we know you will guide us in all things. Amen.
