2:216 – Never A Bad Time For Prayer
#faithbites #faithjourney prayer
We hear a lot about thoughts and prayers lately. There is never a bad time for prayer, no matter what.
Today, we were dropping of girls from our troop at scout camp. Before we left, I asked if we could have a prayer. We all prayed and it set the tone for the week.
Here’s the thing, prayer is a dialogue. It’s not a one way street. When we pray, we bring concerns to God. He answers, but we need to listen. When you pray, not only ask for what is bothering you, but also for God to provide direction.
He will always answer in his own time, in his own way, but you need to be listening to Him.
Scripture
- Pray Continually – 1 Thessalonians 5:17
- Therefore I say to you, What things soever you desire, when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them. – Mark 11:23
- But I pray to you, Lord,
in the time of your favor;
in your great love, O God,
answer me with your sure salvation – Psalm 69:13
Reflection
God always listens. He always answers. We need to be listening to God for his answers, that lead to action. He puts suggestions, people, and opportunities to improve. If we aren’t taking him up on what we offer, why are we praying? We may not like the answers, but God always had a reason.
I will continue to pray, whenever and wherever I want and need to.
Charge
When you say you are praying someone up, or they are in your prayers, are you actually praying. Do you stop to close your eyes, and talk to God. Saying you are praying isn’t the same as praying. It could be a one minute prayer, but God is listening.
Prayer
Lord, thank you for your gift of prayer. Help us to use it to dialogue with you. Remind us that this is a conversation and not a one way street. Help us to be open to your answers and let us listen to you. Help all of us to pray openly, honestly, and continually. In your name, Amen.
