2:167 – Poof… Everything Changes
#faithbites #faithjourmey poof
One day you are welcoming a baby into the world, the next she’s turning give. One day, tou meet a Pastor who is so nurturing and understanding, he helps you join a church. Next day, he preaches his last sermon. One day you think you have everything figured out and poof everything changes.
Today was father’s day. It’s hard for me as my dad is no longer with us. It’s bittersweet as my youngest’s birthday is always around father’s day. To top it off, we have another changing of the guard at church in
An old friend once told me, “nothing too good, or too bad, lasts too long”. While everything we know and love changes in time, God’s love never does. We can count on him.
Scripture
- Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. – Hebrews 13:8
- Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. – James 1:17
- The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; – Lamentations 3:22
Reflection
The sun rises and sets. Governments change. Children grow old. Time passes. God never changes.
You might be wondering why I think of this when everything is changing. The reason is, God is our rock, our anchor, and our cornerstone. While everything seems to be poof and gone, God is always there.
I’ve had ups and downs today with memories, feelings, and my behaviors. I try to remember that I am forgiven by Christ, and no matter what I do, his love is eternal.
Your actions come and go. You can be forgiven. Children grow and may forget individual days, but will remember your love. While life may seem to be poof and gone, our souls are not. We are forgiven.
Charge
Take a moment to take stock of what has come and what is gone. Where those good memories or rough memories? Then remember, that God has been and always will be, by your side. He never changes
Prayer
Lord, sometimes we get caught up with the number of years that have passed between events. We see our kids growing and life passing us by. We know that your word is your truth and you are eternal. Help us to remember that you never change and will always love us no matter what. Help us to cherish our memories and not fret in time passing. You are our rock, salvation, and are eternal. Thank you for your ever presence. Amen.
