2:139 – Is This What The Author Intended?
#faithbites #faithjourney author #GoT
Tonight wraps 8 seasons of Game of Thrones. There has been twists, turns, blood, gore, treachery, faith, demons, resurrections, loyalty, and lots of wine. Is this the Bible or a fiction series? Just kidding.
One thing for sure, is there is no shortage of critics about the show. Many question if this is what the author of the books wanted. Did the show runners twist his words? Did they take it in a different direction? Some even say the author was holding out his last books to see what people thought if the show. We will see how it goes tonight.
Likewise, many people question the Bible. Did the author really intend this law or that action? Was this translation done to twist his words? Should people go with their heart and act how they want? Do we really know how to answer the question, “What Would Jesus Do?”
Scripture
- Knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. – 2 Peter 1:20
- All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work. – 2 Timothy 3:16-17
- I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, – Revelation 22:18
Reflection
Our scripture verses tonight show us three things.
- All Scripture is from God
- Scripture is meant for teaching how to live
- Additional words added or trying to interpret based on personal experience is fallacy and can end in damnation
So what does this mean? God intends us to follow his law. He also knows we are incapable of following it in our own, so he sent his son to forgive us. Without the law, no need for salvation. Without salvation, no need to have the law.
We know what God intended. He wants us to love him and love each other. He wants us to be moral, trustworthy, loyal, loving, committed, faithful, supportive, and a true believer.
Sure, we all have doubts and fall short of the perfection of God. But what God intends as our Author is clear. We don’t need to interpret it. We listen, we pray for guidance, and we receive it.
And for those who wonder what tonight’s episode will bring, if you are expecting a happy ending, thing again. If you wonder what the end of days will bring, God is clear. For the believers, it will be joy, beauty, and no pain.
Charge
Do you struggle with the Bible? Do you wonder what God intends? That is normal, don’t try to interpret but pray to the Lord. He will give you answers.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for your word. Thank you for instructing us how to use it. Thank you for your son whom without we would be doomed as we can’t possibly live up to the law. Remind us, that you give us everything we need. We just need to trust in you. Amen
