2:138 – Daddy Snuggles
#faithbites #faithjourney snuggle
Tonight was family movie night. My youngest wanted to snuggle me. Next thing I knew, she was asleep on me with her arms on top of mine. Every time I moved them, she held tighter. She said she was snuggling them and didn’t want to let them go. Whole I was a little annoyed as I wanted to move my hands, I knew that I was giving her the comfort she needed.
When life is hard, when we don’t know where we are going, we want snuggles too. Often we look to the world to provide that comfort, instead of looking to the Lord as he will always comfort us.
Scripture
- So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. – Isaiah 41:10
- Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually! – 1 Chronicles 16:11
- You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance – Psalm 32:7-8
Reflection
When my kids snuggle into me, they want to feel warm, safe, and protected. In out Psalm, we see that God us our hiding place, our protector, and surrounds us with song. He will deliver us, give us his strength, and uphold us
My kids know that they can come to me whenever and most times, I’ll cuddle them, hug, them, and protect them. Sometimes, I want a little daddy time but that’s not too often.
Unlike me, God is always there to comfort, always there to help, and never leaves you to do something else.
Charge
When you need comfort, where do you go? Instead of looking to the world, look to God. He will strengthen your soul and provide you comfort here. Ask, and ye shall receive.
Prayer
Father, thank you for your care, compassion, and strength. You are always there for us when we need a snuggle, just help us to remember that. Keep us from earthly temptations and lead us only to you for that comfort, that refuge, and that love. In your name, Amen
