April 4 – Life, The Universe, And Everything

2:94 – Life, The Universe, And Everything

#faithbites #faithjourney universe

Today I turned 42 years old. And for my sci-fi nerd friends, you know that’s the answer to life, th universe, and everything. I’m still trying to figure out the questions to go with those answers, but hey, beggers can’t be choosers. 🙂

I was blessed with hundreds of birthday wishes, texts, calls, cards, an ice cream cake, balloons, and a day off from work. It was a pretty good day.

I did think about life, the universe, and everything and know that I will never know everything, be able to do everything, or be everything for everyone. And that’s ok. I know that I am blessed and God through his word and at his place, answers those questions for me.

Scripture

  • But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day – 2 Peter 3:8
  • Listen to advice and accept discipline, and at the end you will be counted among the wise. Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails. – Proverbs 19:20-21

Reflection

Our God is eternal. He is the Alpha and the Omega. One of his days is 1,000 of ours. I will never know the questions that 42 answers, but I have some inklings.

Faith, Family, Friends, Fellowship, Follow-through, Fun. These are all ways to bless and be blessed. As humans we tend to look at what we don’t have rather than the bounty of what we do have.

But, through the Word of God, through my faith, and through those who the Lord puts in my life, I have all the support and the answers that I need.

I do know one thing though, never leave home without your towel. 🙂

Charge

Today’s charge is simple and hard. Accept that you can’t know everything and be everything to everyone. But know that through faith, you will be and know everything you need to know.

Prayer

Lord, thank you for a good birthday. Thank you for everyone who took time to wish me a great day. Be with all of us as we realize we won’t know what things happen the way they do or know the answers to life, the universe, and everything. Remind us that you are always with us and your word, Jesus, is our light. In your name, Amen
