2:78 – I Can Do All Things….
#faithbites #faithjourney things
In life sometimes we think we can do things that we can’t and other times we think we can’t do things that we can. When we have faith, we can do all things through Christ.
My eldest was worried and scared about her 3rd grade project in the living musueum as Sacagawea. She had so many fears in her head from the poster not being good enough, to forgetting the information, to her costume, to people asking hard questions on purpose. She was in tears several times. Even though prayer, and ice cream bribery, she was worried. Tonight at dinner we prayed and asked for God to help her. She played an awesome Sacagawea, answered everyone’s questions and many said she was one of the most prepared. She could do all things…
Before I relate this section, I am not a handy man. I have very little skills and get frustrated easily when it comes to mechanical things. For the past couple of days, my garage door was being finicky. Sometimes when you closed it, it would pop back up. I tried to tighten it and it would work once then not work. Tonight, after the musueum, it wouldn’t go down. I tried to tighten it, even got up on a ladder, and no dice. (Yes, I shouldn’t have been on a later). No matter what I tried, it wouldn’t work. I started to get angry, then closed eyes, centered myself, and thought. Then I went to doctor Google, found that I had to tighten a down force screw, and boom, it worked. I could do all things..
We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us
Scripture
- I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me – Philipians 4:13
- He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. – Isaiah 40:29
Reflection
We have so many talents and abilities that God has given us. Some we use and others we let slide. But there are times when we don’t think we can do something or we need to do something that’s not in our wheelhouse.
I am not handy at all. I shouldn’t have been in that ladder, but tonight God gave me the strength and the knowledge to fix the door. It felt as I was going to fail then through the holy spirit, boom, I fixed it. My daughter was worried, nervous, and scared but through prayer, people came to support her and show God’s love. She was able to do it.
We just need to remember that without God we will fail, through His Son, all things are possible.
Charge
Are you afraid that you won’t be able to complete a task? Maybe you are worried you don’t have the skills to do something. Turn it over to the Lord. Ask for help, he will give you the skills, strength and put people in your life to help you solve those challenges.
Prayer
Gracious God. Thank you for being with my daughter and all the kids presenting tonight. Thank you for strengthening them and being by their sides as they did something they never had before. Be will all of us as we try new challenging, scary, and difficult things. Remind us that all things are possible through Christ who strengthens us. In your powerful name, Amen.
