February 23 – A Meh Kinda Day

2:54 – A Meh Kinda Day

#faithbites #faithjourney meh

Some days I wake up energized, excited, and ready to take on the world. Other days, I wake up ticked off, upset, and just know it’s going to be a back of suck kinda day. Today was one of the meh days. Not happy because I didn’t see something to be happy about, not mad because I didn’t see something to be mad about. Just meh. Floating between the emotions and letting the day take me. Some things were good, others not so good, but all in all just meh.

I think the hardest part about meh days, is that it feels like we aren’t feeling or connecting. We don’t have the joy and happiness from being with people or the angry or upsetedness when people just tick us off. We are just there.

But fear not friends, tomorrow is another day and another chance to have a great day or maybe a crummy day, but it will be another day for living, feeling, and connecting.

Scripture
  • The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit. – Psalm 34:18
  • The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. – Psalm 145:18
  • From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. 27 God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. – Acts 17:26-27
Reflection

While searching for the verses for today, I ran across an interesting reddit thread about when we are meh in our faith. Basically it says that when we started our #faithjourney we are on an emotional high, then it wears off. It doesn’t mean that our love of Christ has diminished, but rather our faith is maturing. It’s time to look at how to take action to improve our faith, or as we talked yesterday, time for some Faith Therapy.

Our verses show us that no matter how disconnected we feel from the Lord or other people, he is here. He is with us. He has given us people to love and for those to love us. We just need to call to him, he will answer.

These meh days help to remind us of the highs and the lows of life. As a good friend of mine used to say “Nothing too good or too bad, lasts too long”. It’s the rollercoaster of life. Think of a meh day as a day when you are at the very top of the coaster or the very bottom. You aren’t quiet sure what’s going to happen next, but there is something.

Just to be clear, having a meh day is different than having depression. You might be depressed or down for a day, but that’s normal. If your meh days follow one after another, then you might need some help. For me, I turn to faith and medicine. Great combinations.

Charge

Are you having a meh day? Take time for yourself. Disconnect a bit and think about what’s going on. Maybe you just need a nap or a rest. Maybe it’s the Holy Spirit telling you to call upon your father. Whatever it is, take the time to appreciate the highs, the lows, and the mehs.

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank you for your love, affection, and those you put into our lives. Help us on those days when we just feel meh or disconnected to others. Remind us that we will have good days, bad days, and everything in between. But that throughout all of this, you will be here for us and we are never alone. Let us know that this too shall pass. In your heavenly name, Amen
