333 – God is Pretty Incredible
#faithbites #faithjourney incredible
Some days the ideas for #faithbites just come to me while other days it’s a bit harder. Today’s #faithbite comes from my eldest. She suggested that I write about the Incredibles and how incredible God is. I said why not. While God doesn’t wear a supersuit, his is pretty awesom. And now, onto #faithbites.
All of us have had troubles and tribulations in our lives. We have had times when we think there is no way we can make it 5 minutes let alone until the next day or beyond. But somehow we pull through. While we have our specific God Moments, we also have his incredible nature.
There is no reason my kids should love me. I’ve yelled at them, dismissed them, and not been the person I want to be. But they love me, forgive me, and work with me to be better. That is God at work.
There is no reason I should be where I am at with my career. Heck, I went to college to be a high school chemistry teacher, and now I’m the director of faculty development at a medical college at an R1 university. Don’t ask me how that happened. That is God at work.
When the unexplained happens or you just can’t understand why things are the way they are, that’s God at work. We should praise him for his incredible nature.
Scripture
- “You are the Lord, you alone. You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them; and you preserve all of them; and the host of heaven worships you. – Nehemiah 9:6
- Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. – Luke 10:19
- Then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature. – Genesis 2:7
Reflection
From the creation of everything in Genesis to the promises and covenants in the old testament to fulfilling those in the new and bridging the divide between man and god, God can do anything. Some use science to try to explain away God. I use science to prove how incredible he is. We are blessed. All he asks us is to believe. Love God, Love People and we get all of his incredibleness.
I try to do better or work harder to be a better father but I will never be God. I will never be incredible. But through his direction, the salvation of Jesus, and the power of the Holy Spirit, I can move mountains.
My kids love me because I am a good father. I’m not great, not perfect, but good. I am better than mine and strive to be better every day.
My career has been successful because of my faith and following his word. I use his gifts to follow his plan.
I will never move a mountain or create the world, but I am part of his creation and we all work together to show how incredible he is.
Charge
Do you get down on yourself? Do you wonder why you have what you have? Maybe you are worried that you will never be as good as you want. Think about everything God has done for you. He holds you in his hand. He gives you his incredible power. It’s up to you to use it.
Lord, help me always be in awe of your incredible nature. Let me truly comprehend everything you have done for me. Give me the strength to use what you have given me only to support you and your ways.
