March 25 – What was it?

#84of365 #FaithBites #FaithJourney

Today’s lesson is about change, or rather how we change through life and through our faith journey’s.

My family spent the day at the City Musuem in St Louis. If you have never gone, it’s an awesome fun day. Climbing on things, touching everything, exploration and more. So inspiring. The City Musuem is built into an old shoe factory. What’s unique about it is almost everything is upcycled. So instead of asking “What is it”?, You are supposed to ask “What was it”? Banisters are lined with rollers from the assembly line. The outside of walls are covered in old serving trays. They all have a new life, a new purpose.

To me, this is what a faith journey is, but in reverse. Instead of asking “Who were they?”, we should ask “Who are they”?

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here” – 2 Corinthians 5:17

“For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.” – 1 John 5:4

Jesus forgives all sins

When we are reborn into Christ the old has gone, a new in place. Who you were is not important, rather who you are and who you are becoming. The laws of man are different than the laws of God. He may forgive us and we may be a new creation while we are still paying our sentence in life.

The Lord sees who were are and that we have confessed and are forgiven. What an awesome opportunity. And for those who have already been baptisized and ‘fallen off the wagon’, you can always we commit to the Lord, clnfess, and be a new creation.

I am far from perfect. I am creature who sins constantly. But I am happy of who I am and that who I was is no more even though I continue to learn from him.

Are you willing to become a new creature? Are you willing to drop grudges on who someone was and see who they are?

I am willing (with the help of God)
