January 19 – Saying Goodbye

Todays Bible Lesson is about saying goodbye. Today we lay my grandma Nancy to rest. She lived a long life, almost 92 years. She was a warm spirit of God. She loved everyone, cared for everyone, and grieved deeply for every loss. She would give the shirt off her back to help. She never did for others only her self. She was my grandma: raising me at times, pushing me at times, and always loving me. She never judged me, but told me to put my faith in the Lord.
Today will be hard, but she has gone home to the Lord our God.

“Many are the plans in a person’s heart,
but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails” – Proverbs 19:21

“The Lord bless you
and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you
and give you peace.” – Numbers 6:24 – 26

We want our loved ones to be with us forever. We sometimes take them for granted when they are here and miss them terribly when they are gone. We have our own plans for how we want our life to go. The Lord has his plans. His prevail. He always grants us comfort. It is just difficult for us to accept.

Grandma,
I love you. I know you are home. I will see you again. Your family is taken care of. Thank you for everything you did to bring us together. Even in your passing, we are together for the first time in many years.
