January 10 – Letting God Calm You Down

For today’s scripture, I want to share a pop song – Kindly Calm Me Down by Meghan Trainor. I know, what does pop music have to do with scripture and God? While this song is probably about a boyfriend helping her when “the world is loud” or when you feel “so cold, alone, Could you be my blanket”?, I think about it as God. He is there to give us love. He is there to help us through all of it. “When I lose my mind, would you still remind me”. The lord is here for all of that and more. We just need to take his love and know he is always there.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” – Deuteronomy 31:6

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10

——–
“When my world gets loud, could you make it quiet down?
When my head, it pounds, could you turn down all the sound?
If I lay in pain, by my side would you stay?
If I need you now, would you kindly calm me down?”
